[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] A man in his 40s who left his mobile phone at home to avoid location tracking during self-quarantine and went out has been reported to the police.


Daejeon City announced on the 7th that it reported A (48) to the Daedeok Police Station on charges of violating the "Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act."


According to the city, A was placed under self-quarantine after arriving from Cambodia on the 26th of last month. A's self-quarantine period was from the day of entry until the 8th of this month, during which going out was prohibited.


However, on the 5th at around 2 p.m., A left his mobile phone at home and went out for about 20 minutes, getting caught. He was found out when he met city officials and police conducting a surprise inspection while on his way back from a nearby butcher shop.


Earlier, the city also reported to the police a man in his 20s who returned from Australia in April and went out for about two hours while self-quarantining at his home in Seo-gu.


Meanwhile, as of today in Daejeon, 733 overseas arrivals and 7 local contacts, totaling 740 people, are reported to be under self-quarantine.
