Volvo New S90 Pre-orders Surpass 1,000 Units in 16 Days
Full-scale Competition with Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series in Second Half of the Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Volvo Cars' new S90 has emerged as a rising powerhouse in the fiercely competitive imported E-segment sedan market, surpassing 1,000 pre-orders within just 16 days.
According to Volvo Korea on the 7th, the new S90 exceeded 1,000 pre-orders in just over three weeks. Volvo, having received these pre-orders, will begin full-scale deliveries starting next month.
In the second half of this year, strong models such as the facelifted Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series are set to be released, intensifying competition in the domestic E-segment sedan market. Volvo will launch the completely redesigned flagship sedan S90 next month for the first time in four years, engaging in a direct battle in the E-segment sedan market.
The new Volvo S90 has increased its overall length by 125mm to 5090mm and its wheelbase by 120mm to 3060mm compared to the previous model, creating the most spacious interior among its class. Regarding the powertrain, the B5 trim features a 48V mild hybrid engine delivering up to 250 horsepower, while the T8 trim is equipped with a plug-in hybrid engine combining an electric motor and gasoline engine to produce up to 405 horsepower.
The new S90 offers Volvo’s latest safety technologies and convenience features to support safe driving. Advanced 'IntelliSafe' technologies such as lane departure mitigation, oncoming vehicle collision avoidance, and blind spot information system are standard. Additionally, it provides a comfortable interior environment with an air purification system that filters ultrafine dust and a B&W audio system recognized for its luxurious sound quality.
Volvo Korea has appointed national soccer player Son Heung-min as the official ambassador for the new S90 and is targeting the domestic market through various strategies, including offering the industry's longest warranty period of 5 years or 100,000 km and investing 150 billion KRW by 2023 to expand domestic service centers. The new S90 is priced at ▲B5 Momentum 60.3 million KRW (including VAT, before special excise tax reduction) ▲B5 Inscription 66.9 million KRW ▲T8 Recharge AWD Inscription 85.4 million KRW.
