Traffic Control on Roads Near Rivers Causes Commute Inconvenience... Seoul City "Increased Subway and Bus Services" Due to the influence of the monsoon front, heavy rain has continued for five consecutive days. On the 6th, the water level of the Han River rose due to the discharge from Paldang Dam and Soyanggang Dam, causing severe congestion on Gangbyeonbuk-ro near Mapodaego. [Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Seoul City will increase the number of subway and bus services during commuting hours until the flood warning is lifted.

The city stated on the 7th, "Currently, six roads including Gangbyeonbuk-ro and Olympic-daero are still closed," adding, "As the inconvenience for citizens during commuting hours is increasing, Seoul City has decided to increase public transportation services."

For the subway, the peak dispatch times during morning and evening commutes will be extended by 30 minutes. As a result, the number of operations will increase by 36 trips compared to usual.

Buses will also have their service extended by 30 minutes. Additionally, if many vehicles detour due to road closures, dispatch may be delayed. Public transportation operation status will be provided through bus stop information terminals, the TOPIS website, Twitter, and other channels. For congested routes, the deployment of reserve vehicles is also being considered.
