[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Kyowon Wells announced on the 6th that the sales volume of water purifiers in the first half of this year increased by 37.6% compared to the same period last year.
Amid growing interest in hygiene appliances due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and the occurrence of larvae in tap water in Incheon, Wells' system water purifiers such as 'Wells The One' and 'Wells tt UV+' led the increase in sales volume.
Wells The One, a system water purifier first introduced domestically by Kyowon Wells last year, features a built-in design with only the water outlet faucet exposed externally, enhancing space utilization. It is characterized by the use of a super bio euro pipe that does not require replacement and the application of sterilization functions. Despite being a premium product, it accounts for about 10% of all Wells water purifier accounts, emerging as a main product.
Additionally, the Wells tt UV+ water purifier applies dual tunnel cooling technology without a cooling tank to prevent contamination of the euro pipe in advance. It provides clean and safe drinking water with functions including water purification, UV sterilization, faucet replacement, and electrolysis sterilization of the euro pipe.
Water purifier promotions also played a role. Customized promotions such as rental fee waivers and discount benefits according to timing and season attracted new subscribers. Wells plans to unveil the first lineup of the 'Life Customized Solution' water solution lineup in the fourth quarter and will actively expand its water purifier market share.
A Kyowon Group official said, “We are striving to provide not only the original functions of water purifiers but also differentiated hygiene functions and systematic management services,” adding, “While focusing on product development and service improvement, we will continue to introduce benefits that reduce customer burdens.”
