POSCO Construction Designated 'TH-Beam Method' as New Construction Technology

[Asia Economy Reporter Inho Yoo] POSCO Engineering & Construction announced on the 6th that its TH-beam construction method has recently been designated as a 'New Construction Technology' by the Korea Construction & Transportation New Technology Association under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

POSCO Construction Designated 'TH-Beam Method' as New Construction Technology

The TH-beam is a method featuring a concrete-filled tube-type upper flange, applicable to large structures. The TH-beam is made by forming one side as a steel tube filled with concrete, allowing it to withstand 1.3 to 1.5 times the load compared to conventional H-beams.

According to POSCO Engineering & Construction, it guarantees revolutionary structural stability for large roofs, high-load floors, and overhead cranes. Additionally, since it prevents beam deflection, it minimizes the installation of reinforcing braces and small beams, thereby reducing construction time and costs.

New Construction Technology is selected annually by the Korea Construction & Transportation New Technology Association through evaluation of novelty, advancement, and field applicability in architecture, civil engineering, and mechanical equipment fields. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport provides various benefits to companies acquiring such new construction technologies, including priority application in public construction projects and awarding PQ points during public construction bidding.

With this new technology designation, POSCO Engineering & Construction now holds a total of 22 technologies, the highest number among major domestic construction companies.
