[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) held a residents' briefing session on the afternoon of the 5th at 5 p.m. in the gymnasium on the 2nd floor of Seoul Convention High School (964 Dongnam-ro, Gangdong-gu) to promote the attraction of the Metropolitan Area Express Railway (GTX) Line D.

With about 200 residents attending, the session included a progress report, an explanation of the 'GTX-D Project Introduction Plan for Gangdong-gu' by Professor Kim Si-gon of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, who is responsible for the research project, followed by a Q&A session with residents. The briefing clarified the necessity and effects of introducing the GTX-D line, the promotion plan, and the strategy for attracting the line.

Before the briefing, Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "Despite the heavy rain, many residents came. I believe this reflects the strong interest in attracting the GTX-D line to Gangdong-gu. I hope this briefing will help form a consensus among residents." He added, "Gangdong-gu is expected to grow into a city of 550,000 people in the next three years, so future transportation demand will be very high. It is the only district in Seoul where subway lines 5, 8, and 9 extension projects are underway, and we will make further efforts to have the GTX-D line pass through Gangdong, which will change the transportation map of Gangdong."
