Oasis Market Joins Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' 'Korea Genuine Seafood Battle'

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Oasis Market announced on the 6th that it will hold the ‘2020 Korea Genuine Seafood Festival’ in collaboration with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Korea Fisheries Association until the 19th.

This special exhibition was prepared to support the expansion of online sales channels as seafood producers are facing great difficulties due to reduced consumption amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Special discounted prices will be offered on seasonal seafood items as well as various products such as shrimp, hairtail, and mackerel.

With support from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Korea Fisheries Association, Oasis Market plans to provide a 20% discount coupon on items such as live abalone, cleaned croaker, and wild cleaned sea eel, with a maximum discount of 10,000 KRW per person per event. Additionally, to promote mutual growth, the discount items will be expanded to other seafood products, offering price reductions ranging from at least 20% to 35%.

The 2020 Korea Genuine Seafood Festival will be held a total of five times until November, including this event. There will be large-scale discount events to promote the consumption of domestic seafood, including seasonal seafood, freshwater fish species, and export-challenged items.

Choi Woo-sik, CEO of Oasis Market, emphasized, "Both producers and consumers were not very familiar with online distribution channels for seafood, but through this domestic seafood consumption festival, we plan to contribute to the expansion of online seafood sales," adding, "We will provide consumers with an opportunity to purchase fresh domestic seafood at very reasonable prices."

Meanwhile, since April, Oasis Market has been operating an online marketplace for small business owners, continuously supporting them by converting small business products to direct purchase and providing free online dawn delivery services.
