Sahakyeongeum, 2020 Job-Centered Blind Recruitment for New Employees

[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The Private School Teachers' Pension Service (Sahakyeongeum) announced on the 5th that it has selected 20 new employees for the year 2020.


Sahakyeongeum received a total of 3,922 applications during the document submission period from late April to early May, recording a competition rate of 196:1. They selected 50 times the number of candidates in the document screening, 4 times in the written test, and 2 times in the first interview, ultimately selecting 20 final successful candidates through the final interview held on July 28.

The recruitment was conducted using a blind method, where factors such as applicants' region of origin, academic background, and alma mater were not recorded on the application form, and evaluation was based solely on job skills and competence. This approach aims to move away from past recruitment focused on credentials and expand the possibility of hiring talented individuals based on ability and character.


Chairman Myunghyun Joo stated, “Although there were difficulties in conducting recruitment due to the spread of COVID-19 infections, we were able to safely complete the hiring of new employees by strictly adhering to quarantine rules such as mandatory mask-wearing. As a result of conducting the recruitment process without regard to academic background, alma mater, or gender through blind recruitment, we were able to select talented individuals from diverse regions and experiences.”


The newly hired employees will undergo internal verification procedures such as physical examinations and background checks, followed by a three-month probation period, and are scheduled to be appointed on September 1.


Meanwhile, Sahakyeongeum won the Minister of Employment and Labor Award at the ‘2018 Blind Recruitment Competition’ and continues to operate ‘blind recruitment’ to enhance the sophistication of recruitment methods and strengthen fair recruitment centered on ability.
