Gwangju Dong-gu Awards Certification Plaques to Young Entrepreneurs Utilizing Vacant Houses and Stores

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 5th that it awarded certification plaques to young entrepreneurs who have consecutively opened startup spaces through the Vacant House Youth Startup Filling Project on the 4th.

This project supports youth startups by utilizing vacant houses or empty stores in the Gyerim 1-dong area. Until May, 10 prospective youth startup teams were selected and provided with initial startup funds such as rent and product development costs sequentially.

Following the opening of stores No. 1 to 3 in June, three youth startup teams who completed preparations such as remodeling startup spaces and product development showcased their startup spaces to local residents for the first time on this day.

The newly opened youth startups are ▲ Store No. 4 ‘Reboutique,’ operating custom clothing and a select shop ▲ Store No. 5 ‘Ttan-jit Workshop,’ developing hobby products and providing services ▲ Store No. 6 ‘Digital 3D Content Workshop,’ linking local brands and media content, totaling three teams.

To add significance, a wooden sign certification plaque was awarded to the newly opened youth entrepreneurs, made directly by youth startup representative Kang Dong-su ‘Baemui’ using discarded wood from a hanok house in Gyerim-dong, symbolizing coexistence with the village.

Dong-gu plans to sequentially showcase startup spaces to local residents by the end of this month for four teams currently preparing startups and strengthen administrative and financial support such as joint marketing to help youth entrepreneurs settle more stably in the area.

Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “I express my gratitude to the youth entrepreneurs who did their best in preparing for the startup until showcasing the startup spaces,” and added, “I hope the stores born from the creative items of youth entrepreneurs will bring new vitality to the village and that they will coexist and develop together within the village.”
