[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The winning design for the architectural design competition of the Campus Innovation Park pilot project promoted by Hannam University has been decided.

According to the university on the 5th, the consortium consisting of Seonghyeon Comprehensive Architects Co., Ltd. and G&M Architects Co., Ltd. was selected as the final winner in the architectural design competition for the Campus Innovation Park Industry-Academia-Research Innovation Hub Building, recently held under the supervision of Korea Land and Housing Corporation.

The winning design received excellent evaluations in all areas including site utilization efficiency, artistic and creative aspects of the architectural plan, appropriateness and specialization of architectural space planning, and business feasibility.

Following the selection of the winning design, Hannam University’s Campus Innovation Park plans to proceed with detailed design for the next 3 to 4 months and start construction in the first half of next year in line with the development of the urban high-tech industrial complex site.

The Hub Building will house advanced corporate support facilities such as startup and small business office spaces, one-person content creation studios, a 4th Industrial Revolution convergence demonstration experience center, maker spaces, tech shops, an Engineering Research Center (ERC), and living labs.

The development of Hannam University Campus Innovation Park involves converting a 31,140㎡ site into an urban high-tech industrial complex in the second half of this year, and constructing a 22,300㎡ Industry-Academia-Research Innovation Hub Building in the first half of 2023 to accommodate 250 companies. Additionally, it aims to create over 1,500 jobs through resident companies, thereby establishing an industrial ecosystem.

President Lee Kwang-seop stated, “We will closely cooperate with related organizations such as government ministries, Korea Land and Housing Corporation, local governments including Daejeon City and Daedeok District, and regional innovation entities such as Technopark, Daedeok Research and Development Special Zone, and Daejeon Industrial Complex to ensure that the Campus Innovation Park grows into an engine of regional innovation growth.”
