[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon, Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized Lee Nak-yeon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, who on the 4th urged Choi Jae-hyung, the head of the Board of Audit and Inspection, and Yoon Seok-youl, the Prosecutor General, to faithfully perform their duties, saying it was "lip service to gain favor with the pro-Moon Jae-in faction."
In a post on his Facebook on the same day, former professor Jin said, "Lee Nak-yeon usually avoids answering sensitive issues, but this time he specifically pointed out the Prosecutor General and the head of the Board of Audit and Inspection," expressing this view.
Earlier, in an interview with a media outlet, Lee targeted Choi and Yoon, saying, "They occasionally stray from their duties," and added, "I hope they would be more faithful to their roles."
On the 3rd, Prosecutor General Yoon emphasized at the new prosecutors' induction ceremony "true democracy that rejects dictatorship and totalitarianism disguised as democracy." Meanwhile, Choi questioned, "Can the government's policy (early shutdown of Wolseong Unit 1), which only received 41% support in the presidential election, be said to have gained public consensus?" drawing criticism from ruling party figures.
Regarding Lee's remarks, former professor Jin said, "Lee Nak-yeon is no different," and criticized, "Even if he becomes president, nothing will change. He will just be Moon Jae-in Season 2."
He added, "Still, if there is one thing this administration did well, it was appointing people who faithfully performed their duties without any political considerations as Prosecutor General and head of the Board of Audit and Inspection," explaining, "But now these two have become 'public enemies' of this administration."
He continued, "'If you don't align with the president's national philosophy, resign and go into politics.' Shin Dong-geun's remark clearly shows how perverted the thoughts of Democratic Party members are," adding, "They demand that the heads of institutions overseeing the entire government align with the president's code. It means not auditing the president's interest projects."
Former professor Jin said, "The role of the Board of Audit and Inspection is not to support the nuclear phase-out policy," and added, "It is to monitor whether the project is being carried out according to principles."
He stated, "No matter how right a policy is, if it is carried out in an inappropriate manner, it should be pointed out and corrected," and criticized, "But they try to paralyze the functions of state institutions by aligning them with the president's code."
He went on, "What is frightening is that they are eliminating people who faithfully perform their duties one by one in our society in this way," and said, "Their positions are filled by those who lack ability and survive only by flattery."
He concluded, "Those with conviction and who faithfully perform their duties are all removed, and opportunists who fill the positions with incompetence and lack of conviction through flattery take over," criticizing, "The country is doomed."
