[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Lee Seung-hoon (32), the gold medalist in speed skating at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, apologized through YouTube.

On the 4th, Lee Seung-hoon said on YouTube, "I am very sorry to greet you like this," and "I apologize for causing controversy due to an unfortunate incident after the Pyeongchang Olympics."

He said, "At first, I was at a loss about where to start and how to explain," and "I have spent the past two years reflecting. Regardless of the reason, I realized it was my fault and mistake, and I have been self-reflecting and repenting."

He continued, "I have been running forward without looking around while exercising for over 25 years. It was my fault," and added, "I will be careful not to repeat the same mistake in the future."

Lee Seung-hoon received a one-year suspension from the Korea Skating Union's Sports Fairness Committee in July last year for assault and mistreatment of two junior athletes. His suspension ended last month.
