First Exam Applying 2015 Curriculum
24 Students per Exam Room to Prevent COVID-19 Infection
Application Period from 9.3.(Thu) to 9.18.(Fri) at Alma Mater and Exam District Education Support Office
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education announced on the 4th that the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation has released the '2021 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) Implementation Detailed Plan Announcement.'
According to the announcement, the 2021 CSAT is the first exam to apply the 2015 revised curriculum, but the CSAT system remains the same as last year.
However, in accordance with the 2015 revised curriculum, the order of the social studies inquiry area changes to 'Economics' and 'Politics and Law,' and 'Physics' in the science inquiry area is renamed to 'Physics.'
The linkage rate between EBS CSAT textbooks and lectures and CSAT questions, applied since the 2016 academic year, will also be maintained at about 70% based on the number of questions per area/subject, as in the previous year.
It was stated that the test will strengthen questions focusing on concepts and principles important in the curriculum, maintain the absolute evaluation of the English section this year as well, and the Korean history section, designated as mandatory, will be set at an easy level.
Since protecting examinees from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is a top priority for this year's CSAT, the Ministry of Education, Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, provincial education offices, and schools will cooperate with quarantine authorities to establish quarantine measures to minimize infection risks.
The number of examinees per test room will be limited to a maximum of 24 to maintain appropriate spacing between examinees, and examinees will be categorized according to quarantine standards to support smooth test-taking.
Examinees must strictly follow the test site quarantine guidelines, such as wearing masks on the test day, and detailed information will be provided separately.
Measures to prevent cheating will also be further strengthened. These include assigning supervisors, preventing clustering of examinees from the same school, providing portable metal detectors to hallway supervisors, and establishing measures to prevent proxy testing and cheating using smart devices.
The application period for the exam is from Thursday, September 3 to Friday, September 18, lasting 12 days, during which application details can be modified.
The exam will be held on Thursday, December 3, and score reports will be distributed to examinees starting Wednesday, December 23.
Hong Jeong-hee, Director of Curriculum at Gyeongnam Office of Education, expressed determination, saying, “Based on the application results, we will prepare test sites and rooms to protect examinees' safety from COVID-19 and do our best to create an environment where each examinee can demonstrate their abilities comfortably.”
