Israel Strikes Syria Again: "We Will Respond Firmly"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo Yujin] The Israeli military reportedly conducted airstrikes on Syrian military observation posts and anti-aircraft artillery facilities, according to local media including Times of Israel on the 3rd (local time).

The Israeli military stated that the airstrikes were in retaliation for an attempted bomb installation in the Golan Heights and declared, "We will respond firmly to any violation of Israeli sovereignty." There were no casualties from this airstrike.

Earlier, on the night of the 2nd, the Israeli military announced that it had killed four terrorists who attempted to plant explosives near the security fence in the Golan Heights, a border area with Syria.

Israel forcibly occupied the Golan Heights, which was under Syrian control, after winning the Third Middle East War (also known as the Six-Day War) in 1967. Conflict between Israel and Syria over the Golan Heights continues, and the United Nations and the international community consider Israel's occupation of the Golan Heights illegal.
