'If I Had Been Just One Day Late, I Would Have Died'... The Volunteer Corps That Saved a Life of Love

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jucheol In] A solitary elderly person at risk of dying alone was saved thanks to the prompt response of a local volunteer group.

On the afternoon of the 27th of last month, an urgent phone call came to the Love Volunteer Corps of Jinhae Baptist Church in Changwon City.

The call reported that a solitary elderly person they usually knew was unreachable.

Taking the report seriously, Lee Jeong-ae, the head of the Love Volunteer Corps, hurriedly visited the home of Mr. A (77).

She knocked on the door urgently, but there was still no sign of life. When she finally managed to open the door, Mr. A was found collapsed in the room, unconscious and unable to move.

She immediately contacted 119 and the elderly man was transported to a nearby hospital. Mr. A underwent emergency surgery and is currently out of danger.

The doctor in charge of the surgery said, "If it had been just one day later, the elderly man would have died," recounting the critical situation of that day.

Lee Jeong-ae said, "I feel rewarded to have been able to save the precious life of a solitary elderly person in danger," and added, "The local community needs more attention and care to prevent solitary deaths among vulnerable groups."
