[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Kia Motors announced on the 4th that, following last year, it partnered with the UEFA Children’s Foundation to carry out a soccer shoe donation campaign for children at the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan.

This soccer shoe donation campaign was conducted during the ‘UEFA Europa League Trophy Tour’ hosted by Kia, the official sponsor of the UEFA Europa League.

Kia had planned to collect soccer shoes while touring six cities across Europe, but due to the difficulties of holding offline events amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the campaign was shifted online and activities continued.

The online campaign, conducted in the form of online schooling for children across various European countries, consisted of two programs: watching guide videos by legendary players and practicing trapping skills, and expressing their dreams and aspirations. Kia plans to deliver videos of the campaign activities to the children at the Zaatari refugee camp.

Thanks to the participation and encouragement of football legends such as Michael Owen, the global ambassador of the 2020 UEFA Europa League Trophy Tour, Patrice Evra, Francesco Totti, and Rafael van der Vaart, over 1,000 pairs of soccer shoes were collected.

After the UEFA Europa League final match, the soccer shoes collected through the campaign and videos containing the children’s dreams and aspirations will be delivered to the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan. Kia also plans to release videos capturing the dreams and passion for soccer of the Jordanian children who will receive the donated shoes.

A Kia Motors official said, “We thank the fans across Europe who generously donated their precious soccer shoes,” adding, “Kia Motors will continue to strive to be a brand that brings positive energy to customers’ lives.”
