[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, stated on the 4th regarding real estate supply measures, "We reviewed the Taereung Golf Course, but other greenbelt areas were not selected as targets based on the principle of preserving them for future generations."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong said in his opening remarks at the 'Party-Government Meeting on Expanding Housing Supply to Stabilize the Real Estate Market' held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building that morning, "When establishing this supply measure, we reviewed all available means and options from a zero base to secure the maximum supply volume."
He continued, "We will promote housing supply including an additional 300,000 units in the metropolitan area and 70,000 units in Seoul," adding, "Although apartment supply in Seoul has increased over the past three years, concerns about insufficient housing supply remain, so we have prepared large-scale supply measures."
He further explained, "Along with quantitative expansion of housing supply, we considered maximizing the inclusion of public sales and long- and short-term rentals for actual homeowners, especially for young people without homes, as well as general sales centered on actual owners."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong said, "Once this supply measure is finalized, it will operate simultaneously with the strong demand measures for real estate to be discussed at today's plenary session," and added, "We will also minimize speculative demand in the real estate market and maximize protection for actual homeowners."
