[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol said on the 3rd, "We must deeply engrave in our hearts the rejection of dictatorship and totalitarianism disguised as democracy and uphold 'true democracy' through the rule of law," while the United Future Party welcomed "the return of Yoon Seok-yeol."

On the same day, at the new prosecutor appointment ceremony held at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in Seocho-dong, Seoul, Prosecutor General Yoon stated, "The law must be applied and enforced equally to everyone. From now on, you must enforce the law fairly and justly to all," emphasizing, "Especially keep in mind that all citizens are potential stakeholders and victims of corruption and power-related crimes, and under no circumstances should you turn a blind eye but confront them boldly, exercising the law enforcement authority entrusted by the people strictly."

He continued, "Do not ask how the state and the prosecution organization will guarantee your position and future, but constantly ask yourselves how you will work for the people and the country," adding, "My predecessors and I strongly support your rightful convictions and passion. Let us all unite to create a prosecution that works with the people, a people's prosecution of the Republic of Korea."

In response to Prosecutor General Yoon's remarks, the United Future Party expressed their welcome. Kim Eun-hye, spokesperson for the United Future Party, said in a statement, "We welcome the return of Yoon Seok-yeol, the swordsman who is loyal to no person," and added, "The natural principles and common sense of democracy sound refreshing; we will also help dispel the darkness of this era together."

She further stated, "Prosecutor General Yoon sharply addressed the attitude of the prosecution at today's new prosecutor appointment ceremony," interpreting it as "a will to create a prosecution for the people, not a lapdog of the regime."

Moreover, Spokesperson Kim urged, "For Prosecutor General Yoon's will to be sincere, investigations that had been silenced before the living powers such as Cho Kuk, Song Cheol-ho, Yoon Mi-hyang, Lime, and Optimus must be revived and reawakened."

Meanwhile, former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon evaluated Prosecutor General Yoon's remarks by saying, "'Dictatorship and totalitarianism disguised as democracy' encapsulates the social situation under the Democratic Party's rule."

He added, "They (the Democratic Party) talk about 'democratic control' over the prosecution. They define themselves not as 'power' but as 'democracy,'" and explained, "Since they define themselves as 'democracy,' controlling the prosecution with their power, training it to be a pet dog for those who obey and an attack dog for opponents, suddenly becomes democracy, and the independence and autonomy of the prosecution from power become evils to be eradicated."

Professor Jin further pointed out, "The essence of prosecution reform lies in creating a system where collusion with power is impossible regardless of who holds the government. But their reform is different," and criticized, "The essence of their reform is to train the prosecution to obey them. The result is already visible. Investigations into power-related corruption have almost stopped."

Finally, he emphasized to Prosecutor General Yoon, "The Prosecutor General must trust only the people and complete the investigation into power-related corruption."
