Until August 14, Extension of Eligibility Period and Simplification of Required Documents
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 3rd that it will extend the application period for the ‘University Area Good Landlord Support Project’ by three weeks, from July 24 to August 14, to alleviate the housing cost burden on university students caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
This project was implemented after the city accepted a suggestion from university students who participated in the ‘Date with Citizens’ event with Mayor Jo Gyu-il, reporting that many students returned to their hometowns due to the burden of housing costs as face-to-face classes were postponed because of COVID-19.
The city has been promoting the University Area Good Landlord Project, which supports landlords who reduce monthly rent by providing up to 100,000 KRW over two months, with a maximum of 50,000 KRW per student per month, to help with student housing costs.
However, since the original application period overlapped with school vacation periods, it was judged that landlords and students were unable to apply. Therefore, the application period has been extended by three weeks, and online applications via visit, registered mail, or Document24 have been added.
Additionally, the required documents were simplified by changing the submission requirement from four or more Jinju living certificates over 10 days to at least two per month, and the support period was expanded from May?June to March?June.
A city official stated, “Active participation from landlords is necessary to enhance the effectiveness of the University Area Good Landlord policy,” and requested their enthusiastic cooperation.
