China: "We Will Actively and Continuously Promote Exchange and Cooperation with Korea in All Fields"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Chinese government announced that it will activate cooperation with South Korea in various fields, including the economy.

Wang Wenbin (汪文斌), spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a regular briefing on the 3rd that following the Korea-China Economic Joint Committee held in Qingdao on the 1st, China will engage in more face-to-face exchanges with the South Korean side.

Spokesperson Wang explained, "The two countries will actively continue exchanges and cooperation in various fields under the background of normalized epidemic prevention by combining their respective epidemic prevention situations and the development needs of bilateral relations." He added, "China and South Korea are important neighbors and cooperative partners."

Spokesperson Wang also evaluated the Korea-China Economic Joint Committee as demonstrating an important model for the recovery of global trade.

Through this Economic Joint Committee meeting, the two countries resumed face-to-face diplomacy for the first time since the spread of COVID-19 and sought ways to strengthen economic cooperation. This meeting was also the Chinese government's first face-to-face contact in the economic field with a foreign country.
