[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] The final round of the 21st Nongshim Shin Ramyun Cup World Baduk Championship will be held online on the 18th.
On the 3rd, Nongshim and the Korea Baduk Association announced that, considering the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), they have made a final decision to hold the final round, originally scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China, as an online match. Nongshim views the first-ever Shin Ramyun Cup online final as a good opportunity to target China's net 心 (net xin) and plans to strengthen its Baduk marketing efforts.
The final round of this Shin Ramyun Cup will be held from 2 p.m. (Korean time) in the game rooms prepared at the Baduk associations of Korea, China, and Japan. The first match is a Korea-Japan match, where Korea's last player, Park Jeong-hwan 9-dan, and Japan's last player, Iyama Yuta 9-dan, will engage in a decisive battle with no room to back down. China has four survivors, including Ke Jie 9-dan, Fan Tingyu, Mi Yuting, and Xie Erhao 9-dan, making them the closest to winning the championship.
The matches will be conducted through the CyberOro tournament server and broadcast live on Baduk TV (Korea), Tianyuan TV (China), and Baduk Janggi Channel (Japan). To ensure transparent proceedings, players from each country are prohibited from bringing electronic devices, and cameras will be installed in all game rooms to monitor the situation in real time.
Nongshim plans to strengthen online marketing around the Shin Ramyun Cup. Nongshim will focus Shin Ramyun and Baeksansu advertisements on Chinese online sites and TV broadcasts covering the tournament, and will promote the Baduk tournament and Shin Ramyun brand through Nongshim’s dedicated site on Weibo, known as the Chinese version of Twitter.
