[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Ahn Min-seok, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, pointed out that "there was no need for our party to be overly sensitive and nitpick at Rep. Yoon Hee-sook of the United Future Party's speech." Previously, Democratic Party members had collectively criticized Rep. Yoon's remarks during the plenary session on the 30th of last month.

On the 3rd, Rep. Ahn wrote on his Facebook, "I propose a one-household movement for both ruling and opposition parties, using the controversy over Rep. Yoon as a turning point," expressing this view.

Rep. Ahn said, "Of course, it is extremely awkward that she owns a house in Gangbuk and lives in an expensive jeonse in Gangnam while pretending to be a commoner with excessive cosplay," but emphasized, "Nevertheless, it should be positively evaluated that Rep. Yoon, as the chairperson of the United Future Party's Economic Innovation Committee, sold one of her two houses to stand proudly."

He continued, "In a world where many politicians, regardless of party, fill their own pockets while pretending with hypocrisy and pretense that they would even pluck stars from the sky for the common people," adding, "If all lawmakers, like Rep. Yoon, voluntarily practice owning only one household, it would help restore trust in real estate policies."

He further suggested, "Since the Blue House is also practicing one-household ownership, I propose that the two floor leaders, Kim Tae-nyeon and Joo Ho-young, take the lead in launching a one-household movement among lawmakers," urging, "If the two floor leaders hesitate, it would be good for lawmakers from both parties who share this intention to voluntarily practice this movement."

Meanwhile, Democratic Party members pointed out that Rep. Yoon rents out an apartment in Seongbuk-gu and lives on a jeonse in her constituency, Seocho-gu, Seoul. It is known that Rep. Yoon, who previously owned two houses, recently sold the apartment in Sejong City, leaving only the apartment in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul. In her plenary session remarks on the 30th of last month, Rep. Yoon criticized the current government's real estate policy, saying, "The jeonse system is rapidly disappearing."

Democratic Party Rep. Park Beom-gye criticized on Facebook the day before, saying, "What Rep. Yoon wants to talk about is ultimately the landlords," and added, "There are people who regret the natural disappearance of the jeonse system. It seems this person's consciousness remains stuck in the past development era."

Democratic Party Rep. Kim Nam-guk also said, "It is difficult to find evidence supporting the claim that the three lease laws accelerate the shift to monthly rent," calling it "mere speculation." He added, "Instead of pretending to worry about tenants while only advocating for landlords, wouldn't it be better to genuinely care more about tenants who are truly struggling?"

Jin Sung-jun, chair of the Democratic Party's Strategic Planning Committee, expressed "deep regret over the behavior of attacking the government's no-homeowner protection policy by citing extreme cases."
