[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The second charter flight to repatriate our workers in Iraq will depart on the 31st (local time).
Son Young-rae, head of the Strategic Planning Division at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, stated at a regular briefing held at the Government Seoul Office on the 29th, "Around 9:30 a.m. on the 31st, about 70 of our workers in Iraq are scheduled to return to Incheon Airport via a private temporary flight."
This is the second repatriation following the return of 293 workers dispatched to construction sites in Iraq on the 24th. Son explained, "This repatriation is due to additional repatriation demand identified after the first repatriation."
To prevent infection during the repatriation process, the government will ▲check health status before boarding the plane to separate seats for symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals, and ▲conduct quarantine inspections through a separate gate within the airport upon arrival.
If classified as symptomatic during the quarantine stage, individuals will immediately undergo a COVID-19 diagnostic test at Incheon Airport, while asymptomatic individuals will be moved to temporary living facilities for testing.
Those confirmed positive by test results will be transferred to medical institutions or residential treatment centers for treatment, and those testing negative will undergo a two-week facility quarantine at the temporary living facilities.
Meanwhile, among the 293 workers repatriated in the first group, 77 tested positive and are currently receiving treatment at medical institutions such as the National Medical Center. The remaining 216 tested negative and are living in temporary living facilities, isolated from the outside without discomfort.
