[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] On the 28th at 1:30 PM, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District Office in Seoul, attended the opening ceremony of the ‘Nowon Subway Gallery’ project held at Nowon Station subway.
This project is a healing cultural program to cure COVID-19 blues (depression) operated by the Nowon Cultural Foundation under the theme of ‘Meeting culture at Nowon subway stations,’ running a traveling subway gallery at local subway stations.
The Nowon Station gallery is decorated with 30 works by Vincent van Gogh and Impressionist artists, with 20 pieces displayed in the Nowon Station transfer passage and 10 pieces in the corridor of the permanent stage on the basement first floor of Nowon Station.
It is scheduled to operate for one month until August 28.
The exhibition opening ceremony was attended by Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, district council members, and officials from the Nowon Cultural Foundation, proceeding with a tape-cutting ceremony, commemorative photo session, and gallery tour.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “Nowon Station will become a space in daily life where people commuting and using the subway can enjoy culture, beyond just being a simple subway station.”
