Gwangju City Launches Promotion for Local Tax Mobile Electronic Delivery Application

Application via KakaoTalk, Naver, Payco Apps and 15 Financial Institution Apps

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City has launched a campaign to promote the ‘Local Tax Mobile Electronic Delivery Application,’ which allows residents to receive local tax bills and make immediate payments through smartphone apps such as KakaoTalk, Naver, and Payco.

The city has expanded the payment methods from the existing electronic delivery through financial institution apps like Gwangju Bank and Kookmin Bank, as well as the Smart Wetax app, to include simple payment service apps such as KakaoTalk, Naver, and Payco that can be used conveniently without a public certificate. The number of financial institutions has also increased to 15.

The local taxes applicable for electronic delivery include resident tax, property tax, automobile tax, and registration license tax. When applying for electronic delivery, a tax credit of 150 KRW per bill is provided, and if used together with automatic transfer, the tax credit can increase up to 500 KRW.

Once a taxpayer applies for electronic delivery, it will be applied from the following month. Citizens who wish to receive mobile bills for the August resident tax and September property tax must apply by the end of this month to receive mobile bills with discounted tax amounts.

As of last month, among 920,000 individual taxpayers, 75,800 (8.3%) are using mobile and electronic mailbox electronic delivery services. The number of applicants is steadily increasing as it allows for more convenient checking and payment of local tax bills.

Kim Dong-hyun, the city’s tax administration officer, said, “We hope citizens actively participate in creating a decarbonized clean city Gwangju through the local tax bill electronic delivery service.”
