Bomb Attack in Northeastern Syria Kills at Least 8... Repeated Attacks on Kurds

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] A bomb attack occurred in northeastern Syria, reportedly killing at least 8 people. Although the northeastern part of Syria is controlled by Turkish forces, attacks by Kurdish forces opposed to this control continue.

On the 27th (local time), the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group for the Syrian civil war, reported that a bomb attack occurred in Ras al-Ayn, a border city in northeastern Syria, resulting in at least 8 deaths.

According to AFP, Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, explained, "An explosive device mounted on a motorcycle detonated," adding, "At least 6 of the deceased are civilians, and the number of injured is estimated to be at least 19."

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Turkish forces suspect that the attack was carried out by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a Kurdish separatist armed group, or the People's Protection Units (YPG), a Kurdish militia controlling northeastern Syria.
