[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 27th, Professor Kim Geun-sik of Gyeongnam National University, chairman of the Future United Party's Songpa-byeong district committee in Seoul, criticized Nam In-soon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was known to have spoken with the late Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon on the day of his death and showed tears while expressing remorse, saying, "That does not cover all suspicions and wrongdoings."
On the 27th, Professor Kim said on Facebook, "Instead of a forced apology, reveal the contents of the phone call with Mayor Park and show sincere actions."
He pointed out, "It has been confirmed that the late Mayor Park spoke on the phone with Representative Nam on the day of his death, so it must be clearly revealed what was discussed," adding, "Considering that she is a former women's rights activist, a close aide to the late Mayor Park, and had a special relationship with the gender advisor who questioned the mayor about an unpleasant incident the day before, there is a strong possibility that Representative Nam discussed the sexual harassment allegations with Mayor Park."
Professor Kim criticized, "If there was nothing to hide, why did she hurriedly evade reporters' questions like running away?" He added, "Although the case of leaking the fact of the accusation should be investigated swiftly and strictly, the police only asked about the phone call with the late Mayor Park by 'phone.' It seems they only pretended to investigate to grant an exemption without any real intention."
He also criticized the measures proposed by Representative Nam to eradicate sexual violence. Professor Kim said, "The so-called measures are to increase the number of female supreme committee members in the Democratic Party and raise the proportion of female staff hires," and questioned, "Was Mayor Park's sexual harassment not prevented because there was no female quota?"
He pointed out, "Mayor Park's sexual harassment was brazenly committed despite having a gender advisor and a gender officer in the Seoul city government, and even though the victims repeatedly appealed to the city, they were ignored. Will increasing the female ratio solve this?" He added, "Starting with herself, who has a background in women's activism, once used the name Nam Yoon-in-soon, is a female quota supreme committee member of the Democratic Party and head of the Gender Violence Task Force (TF), yet she came up with the bizarre term 'victim complainant' and did not offer a single sharp criticism from a female perspective."
