'Mercedes-Benz Give and Race Virtual Run' Successfully Concludes with 10,000 Participants Nationwide


[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee announced on the 27th that it successfully concluded the 5th Mercedes-Benz GIVE ‘N RACE Virtual Run, a contactless donation culture expansion campaign with 10,000 participants, held over two days starting from the 25th.


Through this GIVE ‘N RACE Virtual Run, a total of over 500 million KRW was raised, including participation fees from 10,000 participants and additional donations. All the donations will be delivered to the social welfare corporation Children and Future Foundation and the Korea Rare and Intractable Disease Association to support medical and educational expenses for vulnerable children and youth in Korea.


The GIVE ‘N RACE Virtual Run, conducted over a fixed 48-hour period while maintaining social distancing, allowed participants to choose their preferred time and place to run. Participants from 17 cities and provinces nationwide, from Seoul and the metropolitan area to Jeju, as well as various overseas locations, representing 18 nationalities, joined in sharing.


Notably, more than 60% of the participants resided outside Seoul, with the oldest participant aged 79 and the youngest 9 months old. Many citizens of all ages and genders from diverse regions across the country participated in this new style of donation culture expansion campaign in their own unique ways.


Meanwhile, since the first event in 2017, GIVE ‘N RACE has established itself as a donation culture expansion campaign involving participants, recording a cumulative total of 50,000 participants and over 2.7 billion KRW in donations, including this event.


Dimitris Silakis, Chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee, said, “Despite the difficult times due to COVID-19, I am pleased that many people joined the Mercedes-Benz GIVE ‘N RACE Virtual Run to practice social sharing through the joy of running. To repay this warm society, the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee will continue to carry out various social contribution activities tailored to changes in the times and environment, doing its best in its role as a corporate citizen.”
