[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Mediana announced on the 23rd that it has started producing KF94 masks and has established a system capable of producing up to 3 million masks per month. The company decided to invest in mask production facilities last March.
Mediana obtained KF94 certification from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in Korea.
A company official explained, "Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the global demand for masks is increasing," and added, "We have obtained temporary FDA approval due to COVID-19 and have also started exporting to the United States."
He said, "We are currently negotiating orders with domestic and international clients," and added, "Leveraging our experience with various country-specific certifications and quality certifications, we plan to obtain CE certification for European exports by August, in addition to the FDA approval."
To commemorate its 27th anniversary, Mediana will distribute 200 masks to each employee. It also plans to distribute a certain quantity free of charge to partner companies and domestic and international dealerships. A company representative said, "Along with mask sales, we will fulfill our social responsibility as a company through active donations and gifts to socially vulnerable groups."
Gil Moonjong, Chairman of Mediana, stated, "Mediana continuously prepares consumables necessary for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases," and added, "We will quickly respond by releasing products and technologies needed in the market."
On the 23rd, Mediana held a founding anniversary event at its headquarters located in Wonju, Gangwon Province, to celebrate its 27th anniversary.
