[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] NeoFect, a specialized company in innovative medical solutions, announced on the 22nd that it has been selected for the ‘2020 Rehabilitation Robot Demonstration Support Project’ organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, and the National Rehabilitation Center under the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
This project aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of rehabilitation robot equipment purchased with national funding by distributing and actively utilizing it in hospitals. The goal is to expand the market size and exports of the domestic rehabilitation robot industry.
Three NeoFect rehabilitation training devices?‘NeoMano,’ ‘Smart Glove,’ and ‘Smart Board’?were selected, and NeoMano will be supplied to Yonsei University Severance Hospital.
NeoMano is a wearable robotic glove developed for patients who cannot move their hands due to central nervous system disorders such as spinal cord injury, stroke, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and multiple sclerosis. Patients with insufficient finger strength or impaired finger movement due to neurological abnormalities can use NeoMano to conveniently grasp or hold objects.
A representative from Yonsei Severance Hospital stated, “By introducing NeoMano, we plan to provide new rehabilitation services aimed at patients’ functional recovery and their return to daily life at home, school, and work.”
The Robot Rehabilitation Therapy Room at Yonsei Severance Hospital is equipped with various training robot products, and patients with stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, and musculoskeletal disorders receive robot rehabilitation therapy. With the aging population and the increase in chronic disease patients, the need for not only rehabilitation treatment but also functional assistance is rapidly growing. The introduction of wearable rehabilitation robots is expected to provide optimized rehabilitation services for diverse patient groups.
