Completion of the 8th Term Second Half Leadership Formation of Gwangjin-gu Council

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] The Gwangjin District Council (Chairperson Park Sam-rye) concluded the formation of the second half of the 8th council by electing the Council Steering Committee Chairperson at the 5th plenary session of the 237th meeting held on the 21st.

The Gwangjin District Council had previously elected Chairperson Park Sam-rye and Vice Chairperson An Mun-hwan at the 1st plenary session held on the 8th, and then appointed members to each standing committee at the 2nd plenary session held on the 9th.

Additionally, at the 4th plenary session held on the 17th, the Chairpersons of the Planning and Administration Committee and the Welfare and Construction Committee were elected.

In the standing committee chair elections, Councilor Jeon Eun-hye (District A / Jayang 3-dong, Jayang 4-dong, Hwayang-dong) was elected as Chairperson of the Council Steering Committee; Councilor Lee Myung-ok (District B / Neung-dong, Guui 2-dong, Gwangjang-dong, Gunja-dong) as Chairperson of the Planning and Administration Committee; and Councilor Moon Kyung-sook (District C / Guui 1 & 3-dong, Jayang 1 & 2-dong) as Chairperson of the Welfare and Construction Committee.

As a result of the vote, the Council Steering Committee Chairperson was elected in the third round with 7 votes out of 14 total councilors, while the Chairpersons of the Planning and Administration Committee and the Welfare and Construction Committee each received 8 votes in the first round.

The standing committees will be formed by adjusting within the limit of 7 members based on the committee assignment applications submitted in advance by each councilor.

The Council Steering Committee consists of six members: Park Sung-yeon, Park Soon-bok, Lee Myung-ok, Jang Kyung-hee, Jang Gil-cheon, and Jeon Eun-hye. The Planning and Administration Committee consists of seven members: Go Yang-seok, Kim Mi-young, Park Sung-yeon, An Mun-hwan, Lee Kyung-ho, Lee Myung-ok, and Jang Gil-cheon. The Welfare and Construction Committee consists of six members: Kim Hoe-geun, Moon Kyung-sook, Park Soon-bok, Jang Kyung-hee, Jeon Eun-hye, and Chu Yoon-gu.

The councilors elected as standing committee chairpersons expressed their gratitude, stating, “Together with senior and fellow committee members, we will strive to make the second half of the 8th council, which is starting anew with activities tailored to each committee’s characteristics, more substantial and trustworthy to the residents.”

Chairperson Park Sam-rye, having completed the formation of the council, urged the fourteen councilors in the second half of the 8th term to transcend party lines, respect each other, accept outcomes when consensus is reached even if opinions differ, and focus solely on the residents, promoting cooperation and coexistence to enhance Gwangjin’s value and gain the trust of the residents.
