[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] A man in his 40s was booked by the police for peeping at a woman in the adjacent stall after entering the women's restroom in an underground shopping center in Masan, Gyeongnam.


The Masan Dongbu Police Station announced on the 21st that Mr. A was booked for intrusion into a multi-use facility for sexual purposes under the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.


Mr. A is accused of entering the women's restroom in an underground shopping center in Masanhwoewon-gu, Changwon City, at around 2:30 p.m. on the 19th of last month, locking the door, hiding, stepping on the toilet, and peeping at the woman in the adjacent stall.


Mr. A stayed in the women's restroom for about 1 hour and 20 minutes, and it was investigated that he did not engage in illegal filming using a mobile phone or other devices.


The police tracked his movements through closed-circuit television (CCTV) and arrested Mr. A on the 10th.


Mr. A reportedly stated that he entered the restroom thinking it was the men's restroom and that he stepped on the toilet to check if there was someone in the adjacent stall.
