[Featured Stock] Baekkwang Industry Gains Attention for Producing WHO-Recommended Disinfectant Amid Tap Water Larvae Issue 'Strong Performance'

[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Baekgwang Industrial's stock price is on the rise. The news that the company produces water treatment agents using disinfectants recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) has gained attention amid the nationwide appearance of larvae in tap water.

As of 10:06 AM on the 21st, Baekgwang Industrial's stock price recorded 3,385 KRW, up 6.28% from the previous day. The spread of concerns about larvae in tap water appears to have acted as a positive factor due to the news that the company produces water treatment-related products.

Baekgwang Industrial produces large-capacity water treatment agents using sodium hypochlorite as a raw material. These water treatment agents are used for ▲raw water treatment ▲high-quality large-capacity water treatment chemicals ▲high-purity water treatment chemicals for semiconductors and displays ▲wastewater treatment for special facilities. Sodium hypochlorite is known to be recommended by WHO as a disinfectant for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Meanwhile, as larvae in tap water continue to be found in Incheon, reports of larvae discoveries have also been received in other regions such as Seoul, Busan, and Gyeonggi. In response, considering the growing public anxiety about tap water, the government has issued an emergency inspection order for water purification plants nationwide.
