Gwangju Dong-gu Creates Cultural and Rest Area at Welfare Center for Disabled


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 17th that it has created a cultural and relaxation space within the Dong-gu Disabled Welfare Center to foster communication among local residents and share neighborly affection through humanities and cultural lecture exhibitions.


The relaxation space at the Dong-gu Disabled Welfare Center is a multipurpose area created by utilizing the pilotis space on the first floor of the vocational support building. It is designed as a place where not only disabled users of the welfare center but also any local residents can visit to communicate, relax, and heal.


In particular, the walls of the relaxation space will permanently display artworks, photographs, and crafts by local artists and club members, providing new attractions for many local residents using the Green Road.


Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “The newly created relaxation space at the Dong-gu Disabled Welfare Center will become a place of harmony and communication where welfare center users and neighboring residents can come together.” He added, “I hope that in this new communication space, all residents can gather through shared hobbies and leisure activities to build a community without discrimination.”
