[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] A current male teacher in his 40s from Gimhae, Gyeongnam, who was recently booked by the police on charges of installing an illegal hidden camera (molka) in a high school girls' restroom, has been revealed to have installed hidden cameras and recorded videos and photos at his previous workplace as well.
On the 17th, the Gimhae Jungbu Police Station and the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency announced that the suspect, teacher A, had installed hidden cameras and recorded videos and photos at the school and training center where he previously worked.
The police reportedly confirmed additional photos and videos on A’s confiscated mobile phone and have sent A to the prosecution.
Although the exact filming dates and the volume of illegal recordings have not been confirmed, it is reported that the training center where A installed hidden cameras is visited by up to 3,000 people annually.
Earlier, A was charged on the 24th of last month with illegally installing a camera in the toilet of the girls’ restroom at a high school in Gimhae where he was employed (under the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, etc., using cameras for filming).
It is known that a cleaning staff member discovered the hidden camera installed by A while cleaning the restroom and reported it to the police.
During the police investigation, A reportedly stated that he installed the camera out of curiosity.
