Expecting Local Tourism Effects Through Revitalization of the Gwangwangdure Project

Goheung-gun Officially Launches Tourism-Dure Project Development

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 15th that it opened the 'Goheung-gun Tourism Dure Center' on the 14th and held a residents' briefing session to recruit new local resident enterprises.

The Tourism Dure project is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization to foster and support local residents in forming communities on their own and managing tourism businesses suited to the residents' capabilities.

Goheung-gun was selected as a new area through a public contest in 2020.

The county is recruiting businesses to be supported through the Tourism Dure new area resident enterprise recruitment contest and plans to accept applications until the 24th.

Since being confirmed as a new area in April, Goheung-gun has promptly prepared the 'Goheung Tourism Dure Center,' which will serve as the working space for the local Tourism Dure PD (Jung Ji-young) and a community room for resident enterprises, and is supporting operating expenses to ensure the smooth establishment of the Tourism Dure project in the region.

Lee Sang-tae, head of the Gwangju Jeonnam branch of the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "We will promptly conduct a preliminary diagnosis through an on-site inspection of the new Tourism Dure area and actively support the new area residents' briefing session," and added, "We will focus on revitalizing local tourism through the Tourism Dure project."

A county official stated, "We expect the Tourism Dure project to greatly help revitalize local tourism, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19, and we will lead the revitalization of local tourism through active support of Dure PDs in the future."
