[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The government announced on the 15th that, considering the limited transportation means due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), it plans to deliver a total of 400,000 masks (KF94) to the Philippines and East Timor using Air Force C-130 transport aircraft on the 16th, with 200,000 masks allocated to each country.
Regarding the Philippines, the government had previously supported COVID-19 test kits worth $500,000 in April, and in light of the recent spread of COVID-19, it will provide masks. The masks supplied to East Timor will be delivered to local medical personnel.
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained, "As a responsible member of the international community, through humanitarian support in response to COVID-19, we hope to participate in the international efforts to overcome the global health crisis caused by COVID-19, while also contributing to the enhancement of friendly cooperative relations with each recipient country."
