[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] It has been identified that Samki Automotive's electric vehicle parts sales are continuously increasing.
According to the disclosure on the 15th, Samki Automotive reported in its first-quarter report that pure electric vehicle sales accounted for 9% of total sales. Including hybrid electric vehicles, the figure corresponds to 17%.
Samki Automotive's pure electric vehicle sales in the first quarter amounted to 6.5 billion KRW. Most of these were supplied to LG Chem's Poland plant, where they were assembled with battery cells and then supplied to finished vehicles.
Recently, the automobile market is expected to see worse performance in the second quarter compared to the first quarter due to the impact of COVID-19. However, Samki Automotive's electric vehicle sales are understood to have increased further in the second quarter. A company official explained, "Regarding electric vehicle-related sales, mass production started last year," adding, "This year marks the official start, and we expect this proportion to increase every quarter."
In particular, related sales are expected to continue increasing. Samki Automotive anticipates that electric vehicle sales growth will lead to a 120% increase in related sales in the second quarter compared to the first quarter. Furthermore, this trend is expected to grow more steeply after the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Samki Automotive announced that the cumulative order amount from LG Chem is 568 billion KRW. This volume is planned to be steadily supplied until 2031.
