[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] The National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee decided on the 22nd to hold a hearing regarding the late athlete Choi Sook-hyun's death case.


On the morning of the 14th, the Culture Committee held a plenary meeting and approved the hearing plan, which included a list of 42 witnesses and reference persons as well as the hearing schedule.


Key witnesses include Lee Ki-heung, President of the Korea Sports Council; Park Seok-won, President of the Korea Triathlon Federation; Joo Nak-young, Mayor of Gyeongju City; local sports council officials; Kim Gyu-bong, coach of the Gyeongju City Hall Triathlon Team who was identified as a perpetrator; exercise physiologist Ahn Joo-hyun; and two senior athletes.


The deceased's parents, fellow athletes, and investigators from the Korea Sports Council will appear as reference persons. Choi Young-ae, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, and Moon Kyung-ran, former Chairperson of the Sports Innovation Committee, will also attend to discuss measures to prevent recurrence.
