Seodaemun-gu Operates Tax Consultation Team to Answer Property Tax Questions

July Regular Property Tax Levy: 136,300 Cases with 42.18 Billion KRW Assessed

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) has organized and is operating a 'Tax Consultation Team' during the property tax payment period from the 16th to the 31st of this month to provide tax consultation and payment convenience.

Through this, the goal is to respond kindly and promptly to residents' inquiries about self-reporting and payment, while also strengthening publicity through various media to increase the payment rate within the deadline and implement high-quality tax administration services.

Property tax is levied annually as of June 1 on owners of houses, buildings, land, ships, etc., divided into payments in July and September.

In July, half of the property tax on houses, buildings, and ships is levied, and in September, the remaining half of the property tax on houses and other land excluding residential accessory land is levied.

The scale of the regular July property tax levy in Seodaemun-gu this year is 136,300 cases amounting to 42.18 billion KRW, and the district office completed sending out the tax bills by the 13th of this month.

If the payment deadline is missed, an initial surcharge of 3% must be paid by August 31, and if the property tax amount is 300,000 KRW or more, an additional surcharge of 0.75% per month for up to 60 months must be paid.

Property tax can be paid by visiting nationwide commercial banks, NongHyup, Suhyup, Saemaeul Geumgo, and post offices.

At convenience stores (CU, GS25), payment is possible 24 hours by credit card (only Samsung, Hyundai, Woori BC, Lotte, and former KEB Hana cards are accepted) or cash card (Woori, Shinhan, others with transfer fees apply).

Payments can also be made via the Seoul City Internet Tax Payment System (Seoul City Tax) or the smartphone app 'Seoul City Tax Payment' by account transfer (only Woori Bank available) or credit card (all 13 domestic cards accepted).
