[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] Singer Jo Kwon revealed the story of how he received help from actress Kim Hye-soo during his military service.
On the 13th episode of SBS Plus variety show 'Kim Sumi's Are You Eating Well?', Jo Kwon appeared as a guest and expressed his gratitude towards Kim Hye-soo.
That day, Jo Kwon confessed that he received news about his mother's illness while serving in the military. He said, "My mother was diagnosed with melanoma. It started from her big toe, and I heard that if it metastasized, she would have to have her lower body amputated."
He continued, "My mental state collapsed. I couldn't leave the base, and there was nothing I could do for my mother," recalling the difficult time.
Jo Kwon mentioned Kim Hye-soo, saying, "We worked together on the drama 'God of Workplace.' Since then, she has come to watch all my musicals," adding, "She is like a mentor in my life. She even visited me during my military service."
Jo Kwon revealed their warm senior-junior friendship, saying, "Every time she sees me, she tells me I am a wonderful person. She said, 'I hope you do everything you want to do. I hope you are happy. I will always support you.'"
He added, "I wanted to give up so badly. Senior Kim Hye-soo helped with my mother's illness and hugged me, saying, 'Kwon, don't get sick. Just complete your service in good health,'" which moved many.
