[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] Sangju City, Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 14th that it will implement strengthened water play safety management measures to prevent water play safety accidents with the arrival of the full summer season.


There are 22 water play management areas, where safety facilities within the water play areas have been maintained and 46 safety management personnel have been deployed.


As key points for strengthening water play safety management in summer, the city designated responsibility zones for each safety personnel and provided specialized first aid training. In addition, safety equipment usage and COVID-19 prevention health education were completed to be immediately applicable on site.


Additional water play safety facilities were also installed. Buoys were placed in deep water areas to prevent water play visitors from entering, additional life jackets were stocked in water play management areas, and 30 banners with water play safety rules were installed to promote safe water play.


Sangju City also subscribed to citizen safety insurance that can compensate for safety accidents occurring within water play areas. During the safety management measures period, 24-hour situation monitoring is maintained even on weekends, and thorough efforts are made for water play safety accidents and COVID-19 safety management in cooperation with the fire station 119 water rescue team and the public health center.


Lee Chang-hee, Director of Safety and Disaster Management Division of Sangju City, said, “We ask everyone to strictly follow safety rules such as wearing life jackets in valleys and rivers, and prohibition of entering water after drinking, as well as COVID-19 prevention rules.”


Meanwhile, Sangju City has not experienced any water play safety accidents for nine consecutive years from 2011 to last year.
