Convenience Store GS25 Also Delivers 'Ben & Jerry's' Ice Cream

Delivery Within 1 Hour for Smartphone Orders

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] GS25 is officially launching an ice cream delivery service using a frozen delivery system developed after three months of testing.

GS25, a convenience store operated by GS Retail, announced on the 14th that it will start the ice cream delivery service from the 15th.

When customers order ice cream through the delivery applications ‘Yogiyo’ or ‘KakaoTalk Order’ on their smartphones, GS25 will deliver it within one hour using an insulated bag and eco-friendly ice packs made of water, developed after three months of testing.

The available ice cream options include five Ben & Jerry’s flavors: ▲Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Pint ▲Chunky Monkey Pint ▲Fudge Brownie Pint ▲Vanilla Pint ▲Cherry Garcia Pint, as well as four premium bingsu (shaved ice) varieties: ▲Yours Patbingsu ▲Yours Cebu Mango Bingsu ▲Injeolmi Bingsu ▲Watermelon Hwache Bingsu, totaling nine types.

GS25 plans to initially apply the ice cream delivery service to about 1,000 stores and expand it to all stores currently operating delivery services by the end of this month.

The number of GS25 stores offering delivery services has recently increased to over 3,300 nationwide. This is more than a fivefold increase compared to early March when the delivery service was expanded nationwide. The number of available products has also grown from about 470 to over 650.

Jongin Park, GS Retail’s Ice Cream MD, said, "As a result of GS25’s multi-faceted testing and establishment of a frozen delivery system, convenience store delivery service products, which were mainly room temperature and refrigerated items, have diversified to include ice cream. Starting with the ice cream delivery service, we plan to continuously expand the variety of products available through convenience store delivery services.”
