All School Field Trips in Busan Area Canceled This Year

Busan Office of Education Cancels All Overnight Field Trips
Safety Measures for Students and Staff Amid COVID-19

All School Field Trips in Busan Area Canceled This Year Busan Metropolitan Office of Education.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] School trips for students in the Busan area have been completely canceled.

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 13th that, to protect the safety of students and staff from COVID-19, all overnight field trips such as school trips for elementary, middle, high, and special schools will be temporarily and completely canceled this year.

This measure was taken to protect students' health and alleviate parents' concerns, considering the recent spread of local COVID-19 infections nationwide, including the metropolitan area, Daejeon, and Gwangju.

The Office of Education plans to allow 2nd-year middle school and 2nd-year high school students, who will not receive school trip expense support due to this measure, to receive it next year.

With this measure, schools are expected to operate the academic schedule more stably as the uncertainty regarding the operation of second semester school trips is resolved.

Superintendent Kim Seok-jun said, "It is regrettable that students cannot go on school trips due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation," and added, "When COVID-19 ends and our students can go on school trips next year, we will spare no support."

Due to the infectious disease crisis being at the 'serious' level, 293 schools in the Busan area (45.8% of the total 640 schools) that had planned school trips in the first half of this year (March to July) have postponed or canceled their plans to the second half of the year.
