"Vietnam Partially Resumes International Flights with Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan"

[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sunhee] Vietnam is reportedly set to partially resume international flights to South Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan starting mid-month, after being suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to local media on the 13th, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recently instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during a government meeting to prepare for the resumption of international flights to Seoul, Guangzhou, Tokyo, and Taiwan.

However, the number of flights will be limited to 1-2 per week, and passengers will be required to undergo a mandatory 2-week quarantine. Priority will be given to Vietnamese nationals, investors, and businesspeople.

Since early February, Vietnam had suspended flights to South Korea, China (including Hong Kong), and Taiwan due to the COVID-19 situation. From March, all international flights were banned from landing.

Since the first COVID-19 case was reported in late January, Vietnam has confirmed 372 cases but no deaths. With no community infections reported in the past three months, Vietnam is considered one of the exemplary countries in COVID-19 prevention.
