[Asia Economy Reporters Wondara and Jeon Jinyoung] Lee Hae-chan, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, commented on the funeral controversies surrounding Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon and General Baek Seon-yeop, stating, "I think it is best to have a respectful and commemorative mindset at least during the funeral period." Regarding real estate measures, he announced plans to pass bills such as the comprehensive real estate tax in the July National Assembly session.

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 13th, Lee said, "This morning, Mayor Park's online funeral ceremony was held. Yesterday, I paid my respects to General Baek Seon-yeop." He continued, "I understand there are controversies surrounding the funerals of the two. Even so, I believe it is best to approach this period with mutual respect and a spirit of nurturing the community together." He added, "As co-chairman of the funeral committee, I pray for the repose of the mayor, who has played an important role in various social sectors."

Regarding the real estate measures announced by the government on the 10th, he said, "This policy aims to curb the demand for multiple home ownership from the early stages, increase holding burdens, and recover capital gains from transfers, thereby eradicating speculative profits of multiple homeowners." He added, "We will strive to have the related legislation passed by the July National Assembly session at the latest."

He further stated, "We will also revise various systems that have been exploited for speculation." He emphasized, "We will sequentially announce policies to expand supply targeting actual homebuyers, including financial and tax support for genuine demand. The 'Lease 3 Act,' which protects tenants' housing rights, will also be passed in the July National Assembly to promptly normalize the monthly rent market."
