[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province has revised the standard ordinance on admission and viewing fees for museums and other facilities to expand private exchanges and revitalize tourism. As a result, residents of domestic sister cities can now use major cultural, tourism, and educational facilities at a 50% discounted admission fee, the same as Bucheon citizens.
The facilities eligible for the discount include Hwal Museum, Onggi Museum, Korea Manhwa Museum, Bucheon Astronomy Science Center, Natural Ecology Park, and Bucheon Robo Park.
Sister city residents can receive the discount by presenting an ID that verifies their address, and minors can enjoy the same benefits by bringing a resident registration certificate or student ID.
Bucheon City has sister city relationships with Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi, Bonghwa County in Gyeongbuk, Jindo County in Jeonnam, Muju County in Jeonbuk, Okcheon County in Chungbuk, Gangneung City in Gangwon, and Gongju City in Chungnam.
The city continues to maintain these relationships through various exchange cooperations such as mutual visits to local festivals, direct trade events for agricultural specialties, disaster support, mutual dispatch of performance groups, and agreements on summer vacation facilities for public officials.
Bucheon citizens can also enjoy discounts and diverse experiences in sister cities.
Citizens seeking special themes can visit Muju County in Jeonbuk to experience the Meru Wine Cave, Hyangrosan Natural Recreation Forest, Bandi Land, and Deogyusan Leisure Bike Tel.
In Gangneung City, Gangwon, visitors can enjoy the coastal nature through the Jeongdong Simgok Sea Fan Trail and Yeongok Beach Solhyanggi Camping Site. For those interested in history, Gongju City in Chungnam offers Gongsanseong Fortress, Songsan-ri Burial Mounds, and Seokjang-ri Museum.
A Bucheon city official stated, "We will expand policies that provide practical benefits to residents by sharing excellent policy cases among sister cities and strive to promote more progressive exchange relationships."
