[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) is launching a series of discount events in line with the summer vacation period.
KORAIL announced on the 13th that from the 20th of this month to the 10th of next month, KTX companion seats will be sold at up to 70% discounted prices.
The ‘KTX companion seat’ is a set of four seats designed for small groups such as families and friends.
This event allows four adults to use KTX regular seats from Seoul to Busan for 71,800 KRW (18,000 KRW per person). The regular price is 239,200 KRW, so passengers can use KTX with a temporary 70% fare discount.
The specially discounted ‘KTX companion seats’ can be purchased from 2 p.m. on the 14th via the KORAIL website and the smartphone app ‘KORAIL Talk.’
Earlier, KORAIL also launched a ‘Half-price KTX for Two’ event product for KTX trains running from the 20th of this month to the 10th of next month. This product offers a discounted fare of 59,800 KRW from the regular price of 119,600 KRW for two people traveling together on the Seoul→Busan KTX (standard class).

A KORAIL official said, “The ‘KTX companion seat discount rate,’ which usually offers a 15-35% discount depending on the booking time, has been temporarily doubled. We hope this event will reduce the economic burden on citizens using KTX and help the local economy.”
