[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] North Korea is continuously working to tighten internal discipline.

On the 11th, through the front page of the Workers' Party organ, Rodong Sinmun, an editorial titled "The Party Meeting Decisions Must Be Thoroughly Implemented Until the End" emphasized, "The role of officials is very important in unconditionally accepting and thoroughly implementing the Party meeting decisions." Then, on the 13th, it again addressed social discipline through an article titled "The Socialist Way of Life Is the Most Superior Way of Life."

Rodong Sinmun stressed that "hostile forces are intensifying economic strangulation tactics while trying to infiltrate rotten bourgeois culture and lifestyle to corrupt our people and shake the foundation of socialism."

In particular, the newspaper mentioned that establishing the socialist way of life is a very important task to uphold Juche ideology and national character.

Rodong Sinmun stated, "The bourgeois way of life is a rotten lifestyle that makes people mentally and physically disabled," and added, "Establishing the socialist way of life is a very important task to uphold Juche ideology and national character in the cultural life sector and to protect the socialist essence."

It further added, "It is clear that others' ways do not suit our people," and "The people's conviction to sweep away unhealthy and exotic phenomena and elements with a storm for establishing the socialist way of life and to uphold our own socialist essence is firm."

The background for North Korea's continuous efforts to tighten internal discipline is interpreted as an attempt to strengthen the will for a frontal breakthrough through self-reliance amid increasing internal difficulties caused by the prolonged deadlock in North Korea-US talks.
