BAT Korea Appoints Eunji Kim as New President... First Female President in Domestic Tobacco Industry


[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] BAT Korea announced on the 13th that it has appointed Kim Eun-ji as the new president. Kim, the first female president in the domestic tobacco industry, will oversee BAT Korea's domestic business based on the group's strategic direction.


After graduating from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Kyungpook National University, Kim Eun-ji worked at Unilever Korea before joining BAT Korea in 2004. Over the past 16 years, she has held key positions such as Dunhill brand manager, head of domestic sales, and business development manager, gaining extensive industry experience and expertise. Immediately prior to her appointment, she served as the head of branding at BAT Indonesia, where she demonstrated outstanding capabilities by successfully developing and establishing the brand portfolio despite challenging local conditions.


With diverse industry experience and rich marketing expertise, Kim is expected to meet the high expectations of domestic consumers and lead BAT Korea's new growth by strengthening competitiveness through creative market strategies.


Newly appointed President Kim said, “I am very pleased and grateful to be able to contribute to the development of BAT Korea alongside passionate and dedicated employees as the company’s president,” adding, “Based on my accumulated experience in marketing and sales, I will listen to consumers' voices and lead positive changes in BAT Korea’s domestic business.”


Regarding the appointment, James Yamanaka, Head of BAT North Asia, said, “I am pleased to work with Kim Eun-ji, the new president, in the Korean market, which is building growth momentum for a better tomorrow,” and added, “As a member of the North Asia regional management team, she is expected to play a key role in laying the foundation for changes in future Korean business strategies.”
